What We Do:
|
Difference is welcome
Our qualified teaching staff’s backgrounds are as diverse as the students who choose us. It is true to say everybody learns from each other on every course. However, we are very much bonded by the desire to enable positive change in every person who chooses to learn with the RAKtrain team.

| Skills for Life
For many of us, secondary school may not have gone as well as we had hoped. This could have resulted in poor exam grades or leaving school with no qualifications at all. With RAKtrain, you will have another chance to change this.
For a start, you will have the opportunity to get nationally recognised qualifications as good as GCSE’s. It is normal for a student to leave us with at least 3 Core Skills in Mathematics, English and ICT at Level 1 and 2.
But we don’t just stop there. You will also have the opportunity to take vocational qualifications as diverse as your Motorcycle Licence through to Food Hygiene.
As an example of our commitment to you, a recent RAKtrain cohort of 20 students completed 89 qualifications in the space of just 19 weeks!
There is no other provider in the East of England able to deliver a course as comprehensive as ours.
|
What’s in it for You? • First and foremost the chance to be in control of where you want your life to go. • If you are between 16 and 18, longer courses (FLT) qualify for EMA payments of £30 per week which won’t affect any other benefits you or your family maybe receiving • Short courses will qualify for incentives that will be discussed at the time of you applying.
RAKtrain in Action
Your time with us will be very busy. We strongly believe in ‘Work Hard, Play Harder’! Academic study in core subjects will be balanced by activity frequently chosen by you and your fellow students. Popular events include:
• The football team which raises money for a charity chosen by you • Motorcycle training • Learning the basics of a sound recording studio including guitar and drums • A week crewing and learning the operation of a Baltic Trading Ship leading towards the ‘RYA Competent Crew’ qualification • Residential stays with chosen regiments of the British Army • Personal Development days designed to improve your team building and problem solving abilities • College and employer visits to see which progression path is right for you • Learning survival skills for use on land, sea and air!
