RAKtrain wins Award |
RAKtrain is proud to announce our success at being chosen to receive a 'Development Award' for our Youth East courses that have spanned the last 2 years in both Suffolk and Essex. The citation reads:
Development Award: for providers who have developed exciting and imaginative NEET provision as a result of the Youth East funding. For some this was a completely new venture and for others a challenge to become more learner centered and demand led, developing projects to meet the needs of individuals/cohorts.
Special mention must go to past and present RAKtrain staff including Charlotte Mason, Andrew Hemmings, Leon Buteux, Jeanette Hatt, Paul Reeve and Sarah Dodshon for making the courses happen. A big thankyou to you all.

RAKtrain raises money for the RNLI |
During a recent RAKtrain Youth East course ran in Suffolk, the learners elected to raise money for the local Lifeboat Station by staging a marathon baking session over 3 days.
The resultant sale of cakes, biscuits and buns raised substantial funds for the Southwold Lifeboat crew on their Flag Day, held the 7th August.
A massive well done to all those who were involved. |

Well Done to Tom McBride |
Special praise must go to Tom for being accepted at University to study Astro Physics. Tom originally joined us on our e2e course which he used to gain the relevant qualifications needed to attend HRC'S University Access Course. He passed this with flying colours and now stands on the verge of pursuing his boyhood aspirations with all things physics!
As far as we are aware, this is the first occassion an Essex learner has utilised an e2e course to access Higher Education; naturally this makes us very proud and underlines how life changing our courses are for young people. |

Farewell to Charlotte Mason |
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking Charlotte for 2 fantastic years working with us. RAKtrain will sorely miss Charlotte for her attention to detail, accuracy and rapport that she naturally had with our learners.
Everyone hopes her new post at HRC goes well and we look forward to hearing from her in the future. Thankyou for everything you have done for us Charlotte. |
